The candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, for Owerri senatorial district during the 2023 general elections, Chief Mike Nwachukwu, has described ex-Governor,Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as best prepared to run for the 2027 Imo State governorship election on behalf of Owerri Zone.
“Ihedioha is Owerri Zone’s trump card and joker”,he posited.
In a statement made available to the press recently, Chief Nwachukwu expressed delight that the persistent calls for synergy between Owerri and Okigwe zones ahead of the 2027 Imo gubernatorial election has started yielding results.
He recalled with delight, the manner Chief Longers Anyanwu from Okigwe Zone addressed political elites from Owerri and Okigwe zones during the burial of the step-mother of Chief Tony Chukwu at Ehime Mbano ,recently.
He described the move as a step forward for the realisation of the desire of the two zones to succeed Governor Hope Uzodinma in 2027.
Nwachukwu who made it clear that his opinion on Ihedioha’s suitability to bid for the 2027 Imo gubernatorial election on behalf of Owerri Zone, was not borne out of emotion, noted that Rt Hon Ihedioha approaches politics with clinical efficiency as well as having built a solid statewide structure that penetrates the nooks and cranny of Imo state.
According to him,Ihedioha has the capacity and charisma that mobilise men, women, and youths, insisting that the former deputy speaker and speaker of the House of Representatives remains a household name, and political capital in Imo.
Nwachukwu maintained that Ihedioha has been tested, and also possesses the credentials that are difficult to beat having served as majority whip, deputy speaker, acting speaker of the House of Representatives, and governor of Imo State for seven purposeful months
“As we engage Okigwe Zone, and eventually Orlu Zone, Owerri Zone must present its strongest hand. H.E Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha is not just the trump card, he is the joker,” Chief Nwachukwu reiterated.
